Educational Qualification

SCI Maritime Training Institute

• Maritime Training Institute (MTI), Powai is an institute under Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets Limited (SCILAL) under Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. SCILAL is the demerged company of Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI).
• A pre-sea training of General Purpose Rating Course (GP-Rating) leading to 2nd Mate NVC course will be conducted at Maritime Training Institute at Powai, Mumbai. This course is approved by Directorate General of Shipping (DGS).
• After completion of 06 months pre-sea training at MTI, candidates will be posted on SCI Fleet vessels as trainee GP-Rating (Deck or Engine). He becomes eligible for Second Mate (Near Coastal Vessel) course on completion of 18 months onboard sea service including approved SSTP and Trainee Record Book (TRB).
• After clearing of Examination and Orals conducted by D.G. Shipping, Government of India for issuance of “Certificate of Competency (CoC)” for the rank of Second Mate Near Coastal Vessel.
